Pregnant Women

For pregnant mothers, we maintain good working arrangements with the local NHS Primary Care Team, who specialise in working with pregnant women with substance dependency issues. We are therefore able to accommodate health needs of pregnant women admitted to Ashcroft House and incorporate them into their programme. This will also involve visits by midwives as well as attending pre-natal sessions and making arrangements for the birth in a dedicated unit at the University Hospital of Wales. Following the birth of the baby we will also incorporate post-natal check ups etc. within the mother's individualised programme. The programme will be tailored to suit the mother and the expected duration may vary between six and nine months depending on the mother's progress. Special emphasise is placed on parenting and adapting to motherhood. Mothers who wish to breast feed their child will be given time to do so within their programme so that Mum and baby can still bond and spend time together as they would in their own home.
